We decided to open up an general software forums where our forum people can discuss other software not related to PowerArchiver and compression utilities. We do ask you to please not discuss compression utilities since we really dont want to get into fights who has an bigger…set of features. Everything else, post away! thanks

We have Total Commander at my job. I’m very pleased with it and use it every day in my work. I find it very stable and easy to use. For personal use at home I prefer Dolphin and Krusader. They are both very powerful file managers.

I do not want cloud backup. I have a service and am happy with it. I do not want imaging backup. Tried it and didn’t like it. I want a program that will backup the files I specify efficiently (without insanely slowly down the system), on a schedule, and with some decent options (exact copy, plain copy, versions, etc.). I have used a program I liked (SecondCopy) for at least a dozen years. Never thought I would change. But they are now on beta 4 on Version 9 – after starting on beta 1 some 7-8 months ago. It is still plagued with nagging problems. I keep trying it, finally uninstall the beta and reinstalling version 8. This is getting tiresome. It is time to look for an option. However, I am not having any luck. I keep find online backups and imaging software. But I don’t want either. Ideas? I would appreciate your guidance. Hugh

@spwolf: it seems to be just a reskin of Chrome… for some reason I thought it would be just using the chrome engine, not all of Chrome. Right back when they announced that they would be using chromium/blink they implied that was going to be the only change, the front-end would remain the same. Now they say they are building the interface from the ground up. I feel they have bitten off more than they can chew and most things are not possible using chromium/blink and a lot of what should be core functions are going to be relegated to extensions. The antithesis of Opera Presto.

@Jr: For backup my documents i use cobian backup for some years. Ones everything is set, it runs by itself and the user don’t have to worry that there will be a failure with the backup. Are there people who uses cobian backup or is everyone using PA backup? I use PA Backup every day and it’s never let me down so I’ve no need to try any other back up program. Did install cobian on a friends computer once but I wasn’t overly impressed (it looked horrible too in my opinion) and installed something else instead. @Jr: Now i’m using the standard version of PA, but scheduling the backup is the only thing that i’m not satisfied about. If you want it improved you can do something about that, as that is what the Wishlist forum is for. ;)

And I was bang on about you mentioning Vinyl. :) Wasn’t difficult to guess, everyone knows that nothing beats the rich sound of vinyl. @Sir: you have shed some light on what has been a dark day. I aim to please. :D

Hi, If you have ccleaner and the winap2.ini file if you copy and paste the below script I wrote it will give you an option to clear all recent files including backup scripts. CCleaner does include PowerArchiver but it is prior 2009 and doesnt include the latest versions recent history. Hense why i wrote this. [PowerArchiver 2011] LangSecRef=3024 Detect=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver Default=False RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File1W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File2W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File3W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File4W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File5W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File6W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File7W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File8W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File9W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File10W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File11W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File12W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File13W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File14W RegKey1=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|Active_File15W RegKey2=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|BFile1W RegKey2=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|BFile2W RegKey2=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|BFile3W RegKey2=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|BFile4W RegKey2=HKCU\Software\PowerArchiver\Files|BFile5W
